Background

Although born in Vancouver, I have spent most of my life in Manitoba.  I attended the University of Winnipeg (then United College) and the University of Manitoba, earning a B.A., a Certificate in Education, a B. Ed. and an M. Ed.   I taught English for thirty years in the Winnipeg School Division #1, and am now living by the lake in Gimli, Manitoba.

I have had a lifelong interest in art, sketching and painting through most of my childhood and teenage years.  Around 1988, I became much more serious about art, setting out to learn and to expand my abilities.  I devoted more time to drawing and painting, experimenting with watercolour, pencil, coloured pencil, pastel, oil pastel, collage and acrylic.  As well, I read extensively about art and art history, and made a point of attending galleries in Winnipeg and other cities.

When I retired from teaching in 2000, I began to work at my art full time, working primarily in acrylic until mid-2001, when I became interested in the digital medium in which I now do most of my work.

My work has been exhibited on a semi-permanent basis in galleries in Winnipeg, Gimli and Winnipeg Beach.  Other exhibitions, in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Toronto are listed below, followed by awards and memberships.
